Selection Tool Solid

mlancepro

Question

So - Not a fan of the selection tool creating a solid orange shape over the object you have selected. Can't see objects above or under it at that point. And it makes it cumbersome to grab a handle and move it if you can't see where its going to. Is there any way to turn the fill off on this and just have a border? Or maybe making it translucent?

Thanks - M

Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > Interactive (This dialog will let you completely disable it if you want, but if you continue on to) > Interactive Appearance Settings, you can select the various Object Highlighting items and change their color or reduce their opacity. The main ones are "Object Highlighting - Active Layer" and "Object Highlighting - Preselection - Active Layer" but the names are pretty self explanatory once you see the list.

That graphics card is well below the minimum requirements, which may cause issues like this. The driver is also about 4 years out of date, however on Intel's driver site there are a few updates available. This one looks to be the one for your graphics card and might help:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26228/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=86210

However, since Intel's drivers are hard to find sometimes, you may want to use their automatic driver update utility.

Hello. I found the orange highlighted selection annoying. To turn it off Tools/options/Vectorworks preferences/ select interactive tab. In the highlighting section on the right un-check selection highlighting. That will get rid of huge solid orange section that does not allow you to see where you are moving you object.
