make a solid out of a mesh object

If the mesh is ok, you can use the push pull tool and move one face 1 cm and back again.
That will convert to a generic solid.

If the mesh has holes, it will not work.
But if the mesh is "quite" ok, it may work but may also result in a generic solid that can't do
much or don't want.
If it is an important part, it may be worth to go into the mesh "group" and check or repair
holes, missing, double or overlapping 3D Polygons - before conversion.
