Andrew Mac
I am a long time user of VW and am using vw architect 2013. I use 3-d modeling a lot. However, when doing cd's- I struggle through them when creating elevations. Often what I do is create my viewports then use the annotations to drawing in my roofing hatches, siding hatches, window etc fill with polygons. I know that has to be a better way of integrating the desirable hatch in the wall or roof, walls or window glass. When making changes to the floor plans would me to update and readjust the hatches polygons to reflect my changes Edited August 19, 2016 by Mac B Designs Quote Link to comment
Andrew Mac
Also failed to mention I use hidden line rendering and then create the polygon and fill with desired hatch Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
A couple comments. First, try using Textures on Walls and Roofs. If you choose wisely, they show up pretty well in Elevations, and if you add a light source (Heliodon Object) then you will also get shadows which can help greatly in describing depth. Second, in newer versions of VW's/RW's, many Textures can (optionally) display Surface Hatches (which are determined in the Texture definition). In either scenario Elevations can be produced directly from the 3d Model with very little graphic enhancement (Annotations) required. Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Hi, Its important to get your Class line weights setup correctly otherwise you will get thick and thin lines in the final viewport, especially the windows as they all use different pen weights usually. This hidden line render has notes and a few highlight lines and the roof hatch but that can be in the poly of the actual roof. Will find another post which describes the line weights I use but generally I use the lightest in the design layer so I can draw over in the viewport if I need to bring a few things forward. See post lists my line weight setup. https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=42295&Number=210631#Post210631 HTH Edited August 19, 2016 by Alan Woodwell Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Mac B, Here is one example of the technique I described above, just to show what's possible. In this instance the only annotations, aside from notes, are a fatter line at the perimeter of each Elevation. The rest is all generated directly from the model. Quote Link to comment
