AlanW
How do you make the wall projections at the corners of this wall??? 1 Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
It cannot be done. This is a huge flaw. I have complained endlessly about it, but so far to no avail. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
You mustn't do anything at Wall Edges as long as you want to connect them anytime later (Custom Wall Ends, Projections, Recesses, ...) In this case (selected) you can workaround by replacing the Projection as another broad Wall in an L or T connection. The left example will be a bit complicated if possible at all. Also I would see the middle projection as a column. And as columns in VW are not very usable for me I would also use the Wall Tool with a "Column Wall Style" and interrupt those 2 Walls in between. zoomer
Pillar. Will it be recognized as Wall when I flood Spaces or Slabs ? Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
@ Zoomer Doesn't look as if the "paint bucket" mode of the Slab tool will work... I'll submit an Enhancement request... Wes Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Well, Columns won't work either with buckets or wall constraints. So the Pillar is Wall End compatible for simple Walls, that isn't bad. Not the solution for Component Walls ? Quote Link to comment
zoomer
BTW I always tried to avoid columns and used Wall Tool. Which isn't ideal because the column walls will unwanted or not the way intended connect to walls of course. Pillars might be better. Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
Perhaps in some scenarios, short bits of wall with different components can be "worked around" a corner to create the intended geometry in conjunction with the "Wall End Cap" tool in either an "Add" or "Subtract" mode? In the original post, the unstyled wall works well with the pillar concept. I will continue to push for a re-evaluation of Vectorworks walls "from the top down" to include scenarios like this as well as my favorite - stacked components... Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Oh yes, 3rd Dimension makes it even more complicated. Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Wes, Thanks for this, seems to work well, will use for now. Would be nice to be able to draw a polygon of a shape like in the attached and simply convert to a wall. just a thick and thin solid wall would do fine, basically an extrude but a wall. Thanks Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Sounds nice and useful. Pseudo Wall appears in calculations, Energos, BIM, .... But should also allow to be punctured by Windows and Doors. And if we're at it. If Windows and Doors could perforate every Volume like Extrudes or Generic Solids we wouldn't have any Problems because we could stack whole Walls vertically or in front of each other, or renounce of Walls at all when using Solids.
