digitalcarbon
needs some suggestions. i would like to: 1. animate fluid & a gas in a pipe system (when you pour out water from a glass it also fills with air) 2. pressurize the system & watch how the increase of gas pressure moves the fluid around 3. watch how surface tension comes into play with small spaces (when you tip a small straw filled with water upside-down & put your thumb over one end, water does not come out due to surface tension) do i need something like this? https://www.comsol.com Quote Link to comment
bcd
yes - I don't see CFD coming to Vectorworks - at least not directly, perhaps as a plugin module or an acquisition with a giant push into a new market. Vectorworks Mechanical has gone, this would be a return and race back up that avenue and beyond. Quote Link to comment
Marionette Maven Marissa Farrell Posted August 12, 2016 Marionette Maven Share Posted August 12, 2016 We used COMSOL often in my Mechanical Engineering undergrad courses. I believe it would be capable of what you're hoping to accomplish. We also often used it to compute heat transfer through objects as well as strength of materials. It will take some learning, though. Each time I opened it up for a while I had to dig into my memory to remember how I needed to set things up, especially considering the processes for the different analyses varied.
