Sky
Does VectorWorks use mostly graphic card processing or computer processors to do renderings? Will upgrading to a 3440 x 1440 monitor that uses 2 thunderbolt connectors from a 2560 x 1140 that uses 1 thunderbolt connector cause a slow down of my renderings? Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated! Sky Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted July 25, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 25, 2016 For Renderworks modes, it will use only the CPU. The graphics card handles moving around in OpenGL and 3D Wireframe, and soon will also handle Top/Plan, but not any Renderworks modes. Upgrading your monitors may cause OpenGL and Wireframe to slow down (More pixels to render on the same graphics hardware) but they wont affect Renderworks UNLESS you render on the design layer, where the DPI is controlled by the screen resolution. If you do your renderings on sheet layers, screen resolution will not affect rendering speed, only the set DPI of the sheet layers and size of the viewports will. 1 Quote Link to comment
