Describe a bit more if none of this helps. I'm assuming you are having trouble with a 3d faucet and a 3d counter. Here's a suggestion:

Select the faucet

Set your view to Front or Right or Left.

Set your Active Plane to Screen so things only move parallel to the screen.*

Enable the Move by Points tool in the Basic Tools Palette.

Click at the bottom of the faucet, then click at the top of the counter.

Hold the shift key through second click to constrain the move to vertical direction.

* I can't remember when the Screen/Layer Plane differentiation was implemented. I think it was v2012 or v2013. If you don't have active plane settings in the menu bar, post back.

Not sure of your experience with Vectorworks commands and tools. Extrude is a method to extend a 2d object into 3d, for example to create a cylinder from a circle, or a square tube from a square. Extrude is not a method to move things.

OK hope this helps.
