barkest
not everyone who uses VW are architects. Our interior design students use a floor as a floor all of the time and it works perfectly. Quote Link to comment
chaz
I'm here for the same reason as the OP, constant crashing of VW16. It's crashed at least 5 times on me today, three different files. I've had issues with 16 ever since I got it back in April. And the rendering time is now so long a lot of the time, much longer than earlier versions. Some of the new features are great for simple stuff but if the model is at all complex (most of mine are) using them and dealing with crashes and long rendering times makes them useless, I turn them off and still get crashes. Meanwhile the updates seem to be coming very rarely and when they do, I don't see any improvements. One of my co-workers has switched back to 3ds Max because it renders so much faster. True, but they are probably the largest user base of VW users so most requests deal with architectural issues. Though I do hope it will not lead to "abandaning" architectural tools for something else when those tools are available and useful in the other VW designer versions, e.g. the floors as for me they are far more useful than slabs for some things. The render settings have changed from VW2015 to VW2016 and what had a small impact on rendering time in VW2015 can now have a huge impact on rendering times in VW2016, I have come across this problem myself. I suggest to revisit your render settings , experiment with them a bit if you can make that time available and see what works well. Especially material settings can have a big impact in VW 2016 with the new rendering options. Quote Link to comment

What is your GPU? We have tracked down some of our crashes to being under powered. One employee was on an Air - which certainly was less powerful than your pro - but it could be a hardware issue. AlanW
Hi unless I am again missing the point but I use polygons as a class and plug them directly to my spreadsheet and this give me all the site area, impervious, landscape tee etc area. If this is what you are after I will post a sample VW file. Quote Link to comment
AlanW
HI, Unless i am missing something again? i always use a class and spreadsheet to calculate the areas. The program calculates the area of the polygon and places it in the spreadsheet. Open Spreadsheet in the resource browser and change the polygons then recalculate.
