minotto
I've read on the forum that there are or were issues with converting a complex subdivision object ( that is something other than the primitive forms) to a shell. I've tried converting to NURBs, 3D Polys or Generic Solid but that doesn't work. Has anyone figured out the best way to do this? Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Mmmmm, yea seems to shell from convert to Generic Solid simple but not complex. Wonder if its to do with the different curves. ???? Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
There was another thread about this before. I did a bunch of simple examples and some worked, others did not even if the curvature was similar. It seems more related to where curves change direction or where the shell would be self intersecting. Often shelling will work if set to outside but fail if set to inside. Kevin Edit: Here's a link to the wishlist thread mentioned above - https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=218165#Post218165 Edited May 1, 2016 by Kevin McAllister Quote Link to comment
minotto
Thanks Kevin. I read your post among the others and was hoping someone found a solution since then. I guess the shell tool needs to be updated to accomodate complex subdivision forms, as was suggested in one of the posts. Quote Link to comment
