zoomer
Is there any way to temporarily start VW completely without Renderworks Module ? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Take a look at the Vectorscript calls GetEnabledModules and Disable Modules. You won't be able to start VW with modules disabled, but you could disable them before doing whatever you need to do without Renderworks. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Ouch, my abilities end far before Scripting or Programming starts. My level of abstraction is limited to Marionette Webinar 1. There would be many modules needed to get disabled to keep the who RW stuff disabled ? I think I couldn't even install without RW, I would need a low level serial. Even the Trial Version is complete. And have some doubts if even then every RW content of my files would be really ignored. Even my attempt to switch to Fundamental Workspace was answered with an App Crash. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
What are you really trying to do? Perhaps then we can offer you better advise. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I would like to see what happens if : I export a VW to Cinema. - if there will be any Material created from Class Filling Colors What Tools or settings I will really miss at the end - like what will happen to the Wall Components Dialog or other Arch Objects - will Walls with complex Wall Styles (Components) exported as a single Solid. Will the "Send to C4D" option really be included in non RW Versions now (Or do you still need to buy ½ C4D (RW) to be able to Exchange with your C4D) Will FBX Export be available in Fundamentals. Will there be any differences in how Geometry gets exported in different formats Things like that. As currently RW for me produces more problems and extra work as it solves. PS: Trying to switch to Fundamental Workspace crashes VW in any Case, even with only a real blank file open. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted March 4, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 4, 2016 Currently you NEED the Renderworks module to export to C4D, even if you had the plugin it wouldn't function if it thought that your license didnt have Renderworks enabled. However, if you send your test files to tech@vectorworks.net with the list of things to check I can test them here, I have every flavor of Vectorworks at my disposal and can try on the full Designer/RW as well as just Fundamentals on its own. zoomer
As far as I know the Export to C4D command was available before I had RW. The "Send to C4D" = Exchange was RW only. I think I got the desired result by renaming the Apps Renderworks Folder. Not 100% sure of course if really all related Options in Dialogs will disappear. But things like FBX (which I need and every 3D App should have) and Collada Export are grayed out. The "Send to C4D" is still there. It was said some time ago on the German Forum that RW would not be longer needed anymore to have C4D exchange (from VW 2016 ?) Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
To me it sounds like you need to work with the local distributor to either find a user close to you who has just Fundamentals or have them do a demo setup for you with just fundamentals so you can see what is available. Or maybe they could get a temporary serial number that only has fundamentals activated. I don't know why the Fundamentals workspace is crashing. It does not do so here. As far as I know, the Fundamentals workspace has all of the commands/tools that are part of the Fundamentals license with the possible exception of those in the Legacy folder(s). zoomer
Currently you NEED the Renderworks module to export to C4D, even if you had the plugin it wouldn't function if it thought that your license didnt have Renderworks enabled. I think you are correct. The rests of RW dialogs that stay in VW bring the hint that my License is not enough to open things like Visualization Palette or RW Background which is fine. But neither Send to C4D nor Export to C4D will work without a crash. No proof for being RW only, as I think VW w/o RW had the Renderworks Folder with parts of its content anyway. But I really like the speed bump for the start of VW. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Thanks Pat. I can't live without FBX anyway. Realized that Fundamental will prevent me from Architectural Tools but not from RW anyway. I can switch to Fundamental Workspace now, as long as I don't have any file open. The workaround renaming the RW Folder was adequate enough to see what Tools are gone. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted March 4, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 4, 2016 You should be able to confirm the rest of that with this if need be, unless I'm misunderstanding what you're checking: http://app-help.vectorworks.net/2016/eng/Commands_Tools2016.pdf Quote Link to comment
zoomer
If I only knew it myself .... I upgraded to RW with 2014 as I was not able to export Walls by Components as DWG or in even OpenGL without RW. That behavior could be interesting now. I think there was a thread where someone missed his components a while ago. Wanted to test if non RW Exports to C4D will prevent me from extra complexity in some way. Or if Refreshing the geometry in C4D will be more reliable. Will find if Exchange possible at all with the help your List. The list is interesting anyway. Did not know that I have a Batch Rendering .... Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted March 7, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 7, 2016 Hello zoomer: Temporarily rename the Renderworks folder to something else, like "Renderworks Old". This will cause VW to launch without RW enabled. HTH Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Hi Dave, I did hide the RW Folder, it deaktivates RW and grays some Dialogs. Not sure if that workaround will show dialog windows 100% as in VW without RW. The Send/Export to C4D Dialogs are still there and active, but will crash VW. So I assume there may be some parts of that RW folder contents also needed In plain VW. Quote Link to comment
