It is fairly common that in our industry the Venue is divided into Plan and Above. This is due to the fact that such a large amount of production goes into the lighting grid/perms/rigging truss, and needs to be seen over the top of the Set. As a consequence of this, the Venue is then in two layers, so that the set can be in between those two layers.
But we need a way to Lock the position of the two venues, so that they don't accidentally move. I still want to snap to them though. If for some reason I do want to move them, I need to move them together, which is why I would want to link them a la photoshop layers.
I can think of a lot of other uses for locking and linking, this is just forefront on my mind right now.
