dsnyder
Hello. I'm wondering if it is possible to use festoons or star drops in spotlight 2016. If so, where would I find the symbol and how would the length of the symbol be accessed? Cheers! dustin Quote Link to comment

RickR
Copying an object along a path is a great way to make festoons of lights. I've found spheres with a "glow" texture looks far better than general light objects. Quote Link to comment
mjm
Festoons are a P in the A, because their size and their arc are so difficult to produce readily. And then, if they're to be plotted-in they have to be made into fixtures, tho once the first is done the rest are easier. I have included a render from a recent event showing what I came up with in a hurry. [edit] also, I did create a glow texture, instead of a point source. Worked a charm. RickR
A hanging line forms a catenary curve. I looked up the math once - wow! Might make a cool new curve tool. Quote Link to comment
mjm
I agree: a catenary curve tool would be fantastic for all sorts of sagging/swagging objects (more accurate curtains anyone?) Quote Link to comment
RickR
I posted a request down in the wish list. https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=223220&gonew=1#UNREAD Quote Link to comment

RickR
Over in the wish list there is a link to some Python script. Someone with more time and skill than I have could conceivably make a Script or Marionette object with it. Quote Link to comment
