Editing additions or subtractions

jamesmise

Question

When editing a solid addition or subtraction, you should be able to delete the cutting plane and have the object restored. Instead you get the error message "you have tried to create a solid object which cannot be computed."

Of course the work around is to start the edit. Select the object and not the cutting plane. Copy. Exit the object. Then paste and place.

But deleting cutting planes would be helpful.

This would also be addressed by a recent request for a visible history for solid objects that have had boolean operations performed on them. Cinema4D and 3DS Max have something similar if you select their equivalents of a Solid addition, they have a palette that lets you see and edit the entire history of additions or subtractions performed on that object, without having to remove them and recreate them chronologically as you currently need to in Vectorworks.

This would be very useful.
