0 digitalcarbon
need to be able to add to a symbol so that when i place symbol it starts to show location and if i move symbol it automatic updates Quote Link to comment
0 digitalcarbon
ok forget making a tool, just need a way to "link" a coordinate to a text object like the way we link text to record. then i can make my own "tool" also we should be able to "link" any information to a text from any readout in the OIP or IFC, database, notes etc Quote Link to comment
0 Benson Shaw
Doesn't the Stake Object show coordinates as described? Stake objects can show the world EN if the design layer is georeferenced. +1 for access/linking to data fields in OIP and tool pref fields, etc. -B Quote Link to comment
0 Hippocode
Doesn't the Stake Object show coordinates as described? The problem is that the stake object is a hybrid object, thus not showing the coordinates while in 3D view... Quote Link to comment
0 Kevin McAllister
This is really needed. Co-ordinates for objects should be linkable to data fields and auto-update. KM Quote Link to comment

0 Benson Shaw
Benchmarks work, too. -B Edited December 28, 2015 by Benson Shaw Quote Link to comment
0 Hippocode
How did you get them on the 3D plane ??? I've tried everything without result. Also, I don't have the mode "show as 2D graphic only" which probably makes it work for you. I can't get rid of the 3D locus, thus it remains hybrid. EDIT, found it. Badly badly translated into Dutch. 0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 28, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 28, 2015 Submitting this now, the main immediate issue here is that not all users have access to the Benchmark/Stake object tools, I think they're only in Architect and Landmark by default depending on the localization. Submitting a separate request for linking coordinates (well, really any data values) directly to text. From what I understand you can sort of do this now in a few cases, but it isn't ubiquitous. 0 digitalcarbon
Benson, Superb detective work. I'm going to need a bit more control of my objects. Quote Link to comment
0 Benson Shaw
Wish extensions for stake objet: •Color fill option in the data area •User customization of target. Also I'm not sure what happens to 3d z value if layer is georeferenced. Does the z direction project up from center of earth's spheroid? or perpendicular to a flat ground plane? Not much difference over 30 feet, but there could be a difference in a really tall structure or varied terrain. -B Quote Link to comment

0 Markvl
How did you make that marker digitalmechanics? You mentioned the Extensio Pro Plug-in earlier but that is for piping as far as I can see. Quote Link to comment

You mentioned the Extensio Pro Plug-in earlier but that is for piping as far as I can see. We offer 2 packages, Extensio and Extensio Pro. The object he used is the SymbolObject, which is present in both bundles. You can find more about it here . Edited December 30, 2015 by Hippocode Quote Link to comment
