Bas Vellekoop
Does anybody knows why I cant create planar caps on this EAP? Edited December 14, 2015 by Bas Vellekoop Quote Link to comment
bcd
Use the Extract tool to select the limiting Curve and Model>3d Power Pack>Create Surface from Curves Quote Link to comment
Bas Vellekoop
I used that option to create caps, but was just wondering why it doesn't work. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, can`t put my finger on it. (and using the extract command is one extra command if have to do, in stead of create planar caps, ) Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
VW sure doesn't like displaying this EAP smoothly. It has so many facets even with the curve setting turned up to very high. Personally I'd bug submit this (Jim?). Rhino displays it as a nice smooth surface and will easily create planar caps for this. I'd wish that the Create Planar Caps command in VW was made more robust so shapes like this can be worked with. AlanW
Hi, You may not have your Open GL setting set to high. Also to cap this table see video which shows a simple way to do it. HTH Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
You may not have your Open GL setting set to high. Facets are actually a longstanding issue with resulting EAP geometry. It only seems to occur in some situations. My OpenGL and curve conversion resolutions are all set to very high most of the time... KM Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Kevin, This is how the file shows up on my screen, reasonably smooth. Not sure what why you see the facates so much. This is in a design layer as opened from Forum download. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Alan, That's so interesting. I downloaded the file again and it is displaying fine now. I've recently done a clean install of my OS and of VW so I guess something has either been fixed or was corrupted before. There is a long history of complex EAPs being facetted. Its slowly improved over time but you still do see it once and a while. I assumed what I was seeing was related. Thanks for asking me to take a second look. Kevin Quote Link to comment
