User Customizeable Nudge

I'd love to be able to set the distance at which I'm nudging objects. Often I need to move things repeatedly the same amount of space, or if I don't know the exact distance I need to move an object, rather than nudging it and having no idea how far it's going to move, I'd rather set it to move 1", or 1/2" and then just move it repeatedly until it's where I want the object to be.

I think what you want is already there.

Take a look at Preferences>Edit.

Shift-arrow nudges a small distance. I think it moves objects on pixel or something similar, because the distance depends on the current zoom.

But shift-command-arrow moves it (by default) by the snap grid distance. I always set my snap grid to 6". But there is also an option to set the shift-command-arrow nudge to be anything you want.

Even better, you can turn off nudge, and make your settings for Move Objects by custom distance the same keystrokes as nudge!
