How to use a marionette script to act on a object.

This is a pretty basic question, but I was wondering if you could use a marionette script to act on object.

I have been teaching myself - and just ran a little experiment where I wanted to equally divide a rectangle and then draw lines at the division points. This was fairly straight forward, but I had to generate the initial rectangle within the script. What would be more useful is if I could get that script to act on a rectangle that I draw, and which I could resize with control handles rather than having to input the size in the OIP.

I am sure there is a simple way to do this. The videos seem to show scripts being controlled by objects.

Thanks!

Tom
