Bug Submission: Text Styles Inside Symbols

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've run across this is versions dating back to 2014 so it's not new, but I finally figured out that it's a bug and not a mistake I was making. Here's the situation I set up:

1. I create a hybrid symbol.

2. Within the 2D component I create a generic text label that is assigned to a class and set to use class text styling

3. I link the text to an object record

4. I copy the generic text label and continue creating hybrid symbols

5. I add the object record to the symbols (roughly 80 unique at this point) to activate linked text within it

Here's where it goes wrong:

1. I go to a sheet layer

2. I double click to edit the text style from the resource browser

3. I change the font size

4. The font size changes

5. While still on the sheet layer I edit the text style font size again

6. The font size doesn't change

7. I go to a design layer and edit the 2D component of any given symbol

8. The text style now says un-styled

9. But the class retains the text style

So to summarize: for whatever reason editing the text style while on a sheet layer is un-styling the text in my symbols. I haven't tested any other scenarios, but this one is persistent and repeatable.

Sorry if I'm not posting this in the right forum. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Just noticed that it's happening on design layers too. Not sure what was happening differently yesterday. It seemed like it was a specific sheet layer issue but that doesn't appear to be the case. Linked text within symbols seems to be just randomly un-styling itself when the text style changes.
