Site model improvement

Will

Question

I would really like site models to work better with section viewports. Traditionally in a section you would see the ground line, solid beneath and the terrain in elevation beyond the section line. This is hard to do with the current site model 3D representation.

In Site model settings, 3D display settings we could have a 'nurbs solid' style, where site model is a fully enclosed solid and the surface face of the terrain is a nurbs surface.

Thanks

Will

Maybe I misunderstand the original post, but currently when we cut sections through our site models, we override the section style class, that's being created by default, with a hatch. I think it's normally a solid red fill with 1.0 line thickness. Which I believe is 'solid beneath and the terrain in elevation beyond the section line'.. Also we set our creasing angle for the Hidden line setting to ~80°.

++1 to the Nurbs surface though :)

Not sure if it applies to the original post, but just in case...

I ran into an issue with sections recently, as I didn't use them that often. It turned out the default for sections is merged sections and not individual sections. This can be changed in the advanced option in the object info palette after you select a section view. Depending on your objects this might solve (part of) your issue.

Other than that, also +1 to your nurbs wish.
