rDesign
Since installing Vw2016, the Mac OS X Finder Icon now shows all Vectorworks files as Vw2016 version with the 'red icon' - regardless of what version they were saved in. The Finder 'Get Info' on a Vw2015 file does not tell me that it is a Vw2015 file but only says 'Open with Vectorworks 2016 (default)'. There is no way to know that it is in fact a Vw2015 file. I don't know whether it's an Apple or Vectorworks issue, but it makes it a not-much-fun guessing game about which Vw version a file was created in. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 29, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 29, 2015 Theres no way to discern between older and newer until you open them since they both end in VWX. This is just the nature of how an OS handles a single file extension though. Anything in VWX format can be opened by the latest version of Vectorworks, but anything MCD is VectorWorks 12 or older, and can have a different default application assigned to it. rDesign
JimW - thanks for the reply. I kind of figured that it was an OS limitation but I had to ask. Quote Link to comment
