zoomer 1,011 Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) Yes makes sense. The way I was used to use a Scale Tool before VW was : - select Object(s!) to scale - click on Scale Center/Origin - click on point to give current length from Center - click on point to give new length from Center done. Of course there are options to restrict scaling to one or more axis Important is to be able to choose a special Center at all, and optional set that Center to the local Center of each object, so that you select and scale all of your similar trees at one time. PVA - Jim 2,381 Posted September 15, 2015 Yes indeed, it took some head whacking for users to make me understand the benefit, but got it submitted here: https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=194306 Adding this thread to that request. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

I agree, this would be really great and intuitive, like in AutoCAD. As OZZie says/shows in his screencast: Another very helpful and easyer to realize solution within the existing scale objects tool, maybe as a first step, would be another measuring tool for the new length (see attached screenshot). Why? -> often you have just some random object as a reference length and not a dimension. In this case I find it very unhandy if you: a) first have to measure this reference object outside the dialog, b) then write down the measurment somewhere c) open the scaling dialog d) and then write it in to the dialog manually again. What do other people think about this? What do you think, Jim? I requested this also at Computerworks Switzerland. Would be great to have this soon! Sorry for german dialog - hope it looks similar in the international version. Here how it might look: Edited January 10, 2017 by SwissMarc 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
PVA - Jim 2,381 Posted January 10, 2017 Absolutely agree, I'll bump the wishlist item again with the new forum link. (Interested parties should feel free to vote this thread up at the top left!) VE-93326 Quote Share this post Link to post

Ideally scale and rotate tools would take a hint from AutoCAD's "scale reference" and "rotate reference" commands. Thank You. Quote Share this post Link to post

Thanks Ozzie and Vectorworks! Quote Share this post Link to post
