What the competition is doing

In 3D Apps like C4D every geometry exists of Faces (Polygons) only.

There it is easy to sub-select any of these and give them any separate Material.

Thank God in VW are (at least some) Volumes in Modeling and Wireframe Modus

exists as a valid and important Screen View to control Architectural Geometries.

I think there isn't much more distracting from Architecture than any triangulation

or needed support edges to create holes in Faces or Volumes.

I don't ask for the complete C4D Feature set in VW Rendering or Material Settings.

Of course anything needed for creating basic physical based Materials (PBR)

(Layered : Diffuse Reflection, Specular Reflexion, Refraction (and maybe SSS),

with real IOR Fresnels)

or 2P Perspectives should be in an Architectural App.

But I would like to see these material features already in VW to be rearranged

and expanded, similar to Archicad, and not so hidden inside (other) channels.

The cherries in neighbors garden are always sweeter :)

My experience is that when you switch, it is likely that not all problems will

disappear and even new ones may appear. Or you will miss some of the things

you were used to have for granted. It is very individual which packages fits best

for own needs.

I never regret my switch to OS X though, which meant the loss of one wonderful

piece of CAD software but led to a wonderful 3D package.

Archicad would be a bit too architecture only oriented for my personal purposes.

But may be much better for your purposes.

If there would not be the amount of little things in VW basic toolset, no one beside

me seems to be much interested in, which multiply to real issues at the end and kill

my productivity. VW could be really cool and 100% kind of my App.

So for now it is a tightrope walk and I also look whats left and right.

And every new VW release will be more important and show if VW's and my path

are really compatible enough.
