Beginner's Question: Creating simple 2D walls, no materials texture, etc.

Recommended Posts

I can't seem to figure out how to make walls as simple bounded areas in 2D with no materials texture or components. The list after I click on the Wall selector shows only a series of common construction types. I basically just want 'profiled' walls in several thicknesses for schematic and design development purposes.

Are these 'plain' walls a built-in option? If not, how can I generate them? Can I create custom wall types?

Thanks!

Here's what I would do...

Open a NEW BLANK document, NOT one of the pre-formated template files.

Select a scale, maybe 1/4"

Select the Wall Tool, draw a wall - it will probably be an UNSTYLED wall of maybe 6". You can change its thickness in the Object Info Palette.

If it's just 2D, then height doesn't matter, just leave it as-is.

You can duplicate the first wall you drew and change the thickness of the second wall in the Object Info Palette.
