Nemetschek North America IntroducesVectorWorks MECHANICAL Columbia, Maryland (December 17, 2001)? As part of its continued strategy to offer a line of vertical market products, Nemetschek North America today announced the fourth product in the VectorWorks Industry Series, VectorWorks MECHANICAL. Targeted for designers, drafters, and fabricators, MECHANICAL is an easy-to-use, easy-to-learn, drafting and 3D visualization tool.

"Feature for feature, VectorWorks MECHANICAL, meets or exceeds the capabilities of AutoCAD MECHANICAL, yet is priced within the means of even the smallest design firm. Our exclusive parametric object technology, powerful CAD tools, unprecedented ease of use and affordability make VectorWorks MECHANICAL the perfect choice for today's engineer," stated Dan Monaghan, Director of Marketing, Nemetschek North America.

In addition to offering the VectorWorks core technology, MECHANICAL includes a number of tools and utilities for the drafting and design process. Among these tools are: a Spring Calculator, Shaft Analysis, Conversion Factor, Solutions of Triangles, and Centroid utilities. MECHANICAL also boasts tools to conduct a simple beam analysis, and generate and animate CAMs and Geneva Mechanisms. Finally, three to four million different components can be created from the object technology that ships with MECHANICAL including: fasteners and hardware; bearings; gears, sprockets and roller chains; and springs.

Tracking a project's costs and materials is simple through the integrated database and spreadsheet functions. These allow designers to create part lists and bills of materials which are dynamically linked to the drawing so when one items changes, it is changed everywhere. Besides being a standalone solution, MECHANICAL is also being offered as a module to existing VectorWorks 9 users. This new strategy will allow users to simply plugin VectorWorks MECHANICAL to their existing VectorWorks products. "After working with VectorWorks MECHANICAL, I can see how it can help an engineer with just about any task they have to undertake during a typical day-drafting, modeling, analysis, cost estimates and much more. It is easy to use and it flawlessly read several complex AutoCAD drawings I tested," said Joe Greco, freelance CAD writer and analyst.
