Itchy
Just wondering if anyone has had experience using a Surface to run vectorworks? I'm looking at upgrading my 'home' pc and looking at replacing it with a Surface Pro 3 (256 GB / Intel Core i5). When i need to use VW i will still use a monitor/keyboard/mouse set up, but the Surface will be what is running VW. Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted May 28, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 28, 2015 It looks like the only graphics option is an integrated Intel HD GPU, which I would not recommend for moderate-to-heavy use on a daily basis. It might be alright with just 2D or very simple 3D but those graphics cards do not perform well. Quote Link to comment
James Russell
I have three third year students who run VW on a Surface Pro 3. It handles it like a boss! Rendering and general every day use it seems to handle quite well. I've had a few issues scripting wise (methinks windows 10 is being naughty) but for an everyday traveller it copes pretty well. The only MAJOR issue so far is the 4K screen size. Icons and text appear tiny! You either have to deal with it or change your screen resolution back to 1920 x 1080 to make it usable. I've had a discussion with Julian about this recently and it seems to be an issue rapidly being investigated as Asus and Thermaltake Laptops as of next year will all ship with 4K screens. Better keep up! J Quote Link to comment
