illumine
Is there a hard limit to the amount of lighting objects you can display as on in open gl. when I have more then nine nights each object from the ninth onwards does not come on. Quote Link to comment
rDesign
Yes. I believe 8 is the maxImum number of lights visible in OpenGL. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted April 16, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 16, 2015 Correct. Only the Renderworks modes can show more than 8 lights at a time. In OpenGL, it wont always show the LAST 8 lights either, so its often best to turn off all but 8 lights when doing OpenGL renderings where light matters. Keep in mind that the Heliodon counts as one as well, but ambient lighting should not. Light generated by glowing textures will not appear in OpenGL. Quote Link to comment
rDesign
Thanks Jim for the clarification. Is the '8 light limit' a limitation of OpenGL itself or of Vectorworks' implementation of OpenGL? Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Hi, A limit to the lights you see in open GL. Can you explain as the attached shows an open gl rendering with the lights turned on and there are more than 8 showing or do you mean something else?? Quote Link to comment

SamIWas
Hi, A limit to the lights you see in open GL. Can you explain as the attached shows an open gl rendering with the lights turned on and there are more than 8 showing or do you mean something else?? It looks like you can see the 8 light objects, but not all of them are actually lit. Quote Link to comment
