Perspective lines visible in Renderworks style

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am using VW 2015 and have set up some Renderworks styles to use but am stumped by the appearance of perspective lines on the final render. When creating the style I have opted to apply edges in the edit Renderworks Style dialog box, I have checked realistic not artistic.

Can't figure out how to get rid of the extra lines that almost look like an X-ray line as they show the inside of a shape - any help appreciated!

I would post a screenshot but can't figure out how to do that either.

A screenshot would be helpful.

Click on Switch to Full Reply Screen at the bottom of this page. Then click the File Manager Link. It will explain itself from there.

Hi, sorry I can't seem to upload a file despite going through those steps - nothing shows although I added a jpg file.

It's a bit convoluted.

Did you click the Done Adding Files?

The steps to add a file:

•Click the blue File Manager link.

•Click Choose File, browse to the intended file and click to highlight it

•Click Add File and wait until file name appears in the top of the box.

•Click Done Adding Files

•Click Submit

Yes, did all those things and it comes up saying 0 files. Does it not recognize jpg files?

Sorry it's not working. Keep trying. File manager recognizes jpg, png, vwx, pdf. Not sure about other extensions.

But File Manager does have a file size limit of 2MB. If the upload is too big, you get no file in your post. Sometimes there is quite a lag between the Add File click and the file populating the uploaded list.

After you click Submit and the screen returns to your post in the forum (more lag), your post will show the file as a link (blue text), but not as an image. Showing the image requires a few more steps.

Hope you get it to work.

S Allen; Email the images to tech@vectorworks.net and I can have a look/post them here for others to see as well. Please include a link to this thread.

You mentioned in your email it didn't happen all the time, if you restart the machine or just Vectorworks then re-render, do they still appear the same or do they sort of vary from render to render?

I had that too.

It's just one part, parts of it hidden by other geometry.

Also I have physically non existing or selectable parts that are able to darken a

camera view. It can only be rendered when that Layer contending that ghost part

is deactivated.

It didn't happen initially with this particular file then for no obvious reason when I went to render the drawing again the lines were there, then once there they don't go away.

Restarting etc doesn't make any difference.

Just to point out in the second screen shot I was just showing how those lines don't show with the isometric view so I was wondering if it is somehow connected to the render works camera??

Cameras driving me nuts anyway ;)

The strange lines in Perspectives seem to occur in all Camera Views

where Camera Angle (from Top View) is something like 0°, 180°, 270°, ...

It seems ok if the Cam angle is something else or other than rectangular.

Edit :

No, it has to be at least 2° from rectangular !!!

I think not ok is that Saved Views must not have the same Name as Cameras (!?)

And not ok that cameras are no more working by double clicking the cam if there

was saved a Save View from a Camera View.

(You have to force Cam View by Edit > Show Cam View)

Thanks for that info - I changed the camera angle to 95° and the lines went away!

Seems like an annoying "feature" of the camera. I had also wondered why the double click didn't always work so you have cleared that up for me as well.

But still not easy to convince the client that he can't have his one point perspective ;)

Ghost Lines or other Perspective - choose one !

Hi, Could you post the VW file as I run up views of a renderworks camera and no lines.

Can anyone confirm that this was fixed for 2016 ?

I mean the Ghost Lines that appeared in front of objects when an RW Style

was set to use Lines, and a Central (or 1-Point) Perspective was used.

(Camera perpendicular to geometry)

I have set a camera to be perpendicular to geometry and don't see problems.

But could be that there may be objects needed that start behind the camera

to reproduce that problem.
