illumine
Align distribute used to work with any object now it only works with lights. This sucks hard, how can this be made to work again? 1 Quote Link to comment
SAR
I have no problem aligning objects that are not lights using align/distribute in the Modify-align menu. I assume that is the item you are taking about. VW 2015 Steve Ross Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 11, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 11, 2015 The "Align and Distribute Items" tool in the Spotlight workspace is only for lights, the separate "Align/Distribute" commands found under Modify work on nearly everything else. illumine
Okay, cool. Would be great if this tool could work for everything again just like it has in the last three or so versions of spotlight. Why? A. I don't want to use Align/Distribute, the menu is several more clicks. B. Align/Distribute is not as efficient. I just want to click between points and distribute what I have selected. C. This is the workflow I have developed when using VW. Changing the software to hinder that workflow is frustrating. Please have this fixed in the next service pack. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 12, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 12, 2015 It was changed because it did not work properly in all cases with non-lighting device objects, it wasn't originally intended to be used on other objects, but the exclusion wasn't forced until now. I will submit a request to have the tools functionality expanded officially, but it will likely not be in a service pack update. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Sounds like this type of distribute should be added to the Align/Distribute rework that was wish listed recently. I just find it confusing that one is a tool and the other is a menu command..... KM 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 13, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 13, 2015 A few tools/commands need that cleanup, there are too many instances where are multiple commands or tools named exactly or nearly the same, but perform slightly (or completely) different functions and it all too often causes confusion.
