illumine
Is there a way of getting the total weight of a lighting position for rigging purposes? Edited February 11, 2015 by maddoglx Quote Link to comment
Chris Gentry
The AutoPlot Chain Hoist plug-in has this ability, including being able to add weight records to objects/symbols. Quote Link to comment
Benjamin Weill
The Position Summary on lighting positions will give you weight info. It doesn't give you a weight total - That seems silly, but I may have just missed it - but as long as your symbols have weights in them, the summary will say you have "x" amount of 26 degree Source 4s at 14lbs, etc. It's not exactly what you're looking for, I think, but it's a start. michaelk
VW doesn't have a unit of measure for weight. (or power, for that matter) so it doesn't natively add pounds, kilograms, stones, etc. Same when adding electrical loads - VW doesn't know that a kilowatt is 1000 watts. You can roll your own very easily. Make sure all your instruments use the same unit of weight in the symbol definition. Delete the lbs after the weight the symbol definition. You can do this right in the worksheet for your current drawing, but you might want to change your symbols for the next one. Then in the worksheet database, expose the database headers. In the weight column change ='Lighting Device'.'Weight' to =VALUE('Lighting Device'.'Weight') The VALUE command reads the numerals as text and turns them into numbers. hth mk Quote Link to comment
JBenghiat
Remember also that the weight of a position is more than just the lights -- it includes all cable and pipe or truss. An automatic calculation of a position's weight would require additional user input regarding additional weight per foot and instrument. -Josh Quote Link to comment
