JasonC2011
Hi, Have a coworker that decided to upgrade to Yosemitie yesterday and now when he prints files, all the text is showing up as rectangles. This is Vectorworks 2015 (latest SP), on a MacBook Pro. All other software prints fine, and the text screen displays fine. PDF's exported show the same behavior. Any ideas? Thinking a font mapping issue, but not sure where to start looking. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 4, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 4, 2015 OS X 10.10.2? In a new document, create some text in Arial or Times New Roman, when printed, does that text appear correctly? What printer make/model? Quote Link to comment

RGyori
and... have you tried printing from the Mac's Preview app in lieu of VW or Adobe Reader? Quote Link to comment
JasonC2011
Thanks for all the tips! They helped us to isolate the problem down to the printer driver needing to be updated... odd that vectorworks was the only program to have issues with that, but at least its working now. Thanks! Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 4, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 4, 2015 A lot of Mac applications use their own communication system to "speak" with printers. We use the one that is built into the OS. Its way more complex than that of course, but thats the simple explanation. It also explains why we sometimes see PDF export issues when using printer settings for printers that are having issues too, the page setup for PDF export is pulled from the printing settings.
