scheven_architect
Why don't walls merge nicely? And why if they do there is still a fine line? http://imgur.com/AUPlWW2 http://imgur.com/KrDqB5j Edited January 14, 2015 by scheven_architect Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 14, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 14, 2015 The Component Join tool should fix these situations, if the walls are in fact already joined: Quote Link to comment
scheven_architect
Why doesn't this happen automatically? Clicking dozens of walls is a painstaking task. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 14, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 14, 2015 It does normally. Were these walls drawn out with the tool or copy/pasted/duplicated/moved from other sources? If Auto-Join walls is enabled, you shouldnt need to join walls or components of the same wall style. If they are different wall styles, you would need to do it manually if Vectorworks wasnt able to guess at what was wanted. Quote Link to comment
scheven_architect
They are custom made walls. When connections are made (even automatically) I still see a thin line where both walls meet. http://imgur.com/adU0dH5 Edited January 14, 2015 by scheven_architect Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 14, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 14, 2015 You don't have the wall in the middle set to have any caps and it still does this? Quote Link to comment
zoomer
And those thin lines will disappear when using the component join tool ? And these will not disappear if you use the normal wall join tools and manually joining the walls ? What do you mean by custom walls ? Just copy a wall style and than edit or add components or is it something special ? Quote Link to comment
scheven_architect
- These thin lines become thick when using component join tool. - They appear most of the time, sometimes they don't. - Custom wall = wall with components I 'made'. - Wall caps are off. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 14, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 14, 2015 Post some of those walls in a VWX file here and I can take a look. Quote Link to comment
scheven_architect
Strange, after copy pasting them in an other file they are joined... So it seems related to my file. Edited January 14, 2015 by scheven_architect Quote Link to comment
scheven_architect
I'm going to make my custom wall types starting from the ones standard in Vectorworks. That should solve it. Quote Link to comment
JEH
I had a similar issue, and have found if I make sure I have the 'core' column ticked on one of my wall components, then it seems to solve it. Quote Link to comment
