scheven_architect
How do I copy a wall without copying the elements that are inserted in it? Quote Link to comment

twk
A work around could be to : -use the Select Similar tool to select the elements inside the wall. -delete selected elements -select wall and edit->copy or ctrl+C -and then undoing the steps to where you were initially the copied wall will(should be) still be in the computers temp memory (clipboard) which you can paste elsewhere Edited January 12, 2015 by TuiWalker Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
It would probably be quicker and easier to delete the objects in the pasted walls. Use the Select Similar tool as suggested or select multiple objects within a wall using the the Marquee mode of the Reshape tool. Then delete them. CipesDesign
Or, drag the wall shorter, and any inserted items (that were once in the longer portion of the wall) will evaporate. Quote Link to comment

CipesDesign
Yes I use duplicate walls every day, all day long! Usually I just hit command D, but sometime use Option Click. I wonder if a (second/additional) modifier key could be used to create a "special" wall duplicate? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 13, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 13, 2015 I would think the easiest would be a contextual menu something like Copy (Walls Only) so you would only see it in a situation where you were already right/ctrl clicking on the desired walls, since its an odd special case that wouldnt apply to other obejct types. CipesDesign
Hi Jim, that would work for me! Quote Link to comment
bcd
I can envision this coexisting with a function to remove wall peaks - eg - opt-drag duplicates wall without doors shift-opt drag duplicates wall without doors or peaks Quote Link to comment
