visard
I'm new to VW 2015 and have found that when using the number keyboard when switching views I get a perspective instead of the isometric view I'm expecting. Can't seem to find any settings for this - any clues out there as to how to prevent this from happening? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 17, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 17, 2014 Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > 3D, there you can set the desired render mode and projection. If you want to make it exactly like previous versions, use Wireframe and Orthogonal. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Will this new setting stay in further releases ? (that way) Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 18, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 18, 2014 It will stay however you set it in this version, but not if they have the default set differently in the next release of Vectorworks. You would need to set it back again. Unless the wishlist item for settings/templates/workspace migration goes through. I sincerely hope it does. Quote Link to comment
bcd
A quick preference button and making it a document rather than a VW preference are also on the wishlist I believe. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 18, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 18, 2014 Yup yup, a doc quickpref switching of the default render mode as a separate setting for the default projection went on the list. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 18, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 18, 2014 Woops... I hadn't specified that it be a document pref, amending it now. Apologies. Quote Link to comment

Sorry, I meant if it will stay in the next relases the way that the new 2015 setting is designed. As I and some other users weren't very happy with how it works when first testing as it was released. https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=203342 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 18, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 18, 2014 Not sure. Half the users loved the switch and half didn't. Its a personal preference thing for a lot of people, I think making it quicker to switch will alleviate the majority of the frustration. The more control the user has over everything, the better, even if the defaults can't be agreed upon. Quote Link to comment
rDesign
I love having the ability of a non-cropped perspective view, but at first I was utterly confused when I switched to a standard 'Isometric' view and got a Perspective view. By definition - Isometric views are Axonometric projections, not Perspective projections. Wiki Isometric Projection The standard view names (eg. Right Isometric) should dynamically change to reflect your selected Projection mode. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
True elevation views (Front, Side, Back etc.) and Isometric projection views should never be in perspective. KM Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I also prefer a global setting - but not as it is in 2015. Setting Isometrics to Perspective - optional, yes. But influencing Top, Front, ... - no, never ever. Cropping Camera Views - always, yes. Cropping Isometrics - never ever Plan View = Plan View, always, yes. Setting Isos to OpenGL - optional, yes Setting Top,Front, ... to OpenGl - not (do I think) Quote Link to comment
zoomer
The real problem with cropping in general is that you can't navigate your view anymore. You can change the position and scale of the crop in view only. I think a crop should stay in in the middle of the view always anyway. And it feels like that crop frame is nothing else than a View Port. At least it behaves that way. And could be that it is related to the fact that you can't export Camera to their correct positions - because it may be that not the Cameras are exported but their View Ports. Quote Link to comment
