anti aliasing and blur on 2d objects in 3d view

I have some 2d objects on the ground plane, it seems i used to be able to leave them 2d in a 3d view and they didn't look too bad, but now as the pic shows the 2d ground plane objects are all blurry. I turned off anti aliasing in the preferences. The pink and green are 2d objects as is the parking lot lines.

Is this unavoidable?

Thanks

In a test here I did not get blurry results with 2D geometry, tested Lines, Rectangles and 2D Polygons:

Could you send any one of the files you see this in to tech@vectorworks.net? I can have a closer look.

Got it appearing properly after performing a layer import. There seem to be problems with the conversions of a Roof object as well as some column structures, which you will probably see if you perform this procedure to bring your geometry into a new 2015 document:

However the odd aliasing issue was gone once I performed the Layer Import.

I will see if I can track the issue down more specifically, Layer Import is a heavy big hammer of a troubleshooting step as it removes sheet layer info.

I have the same problem with 2D objects in 3D views when rendered with Renderworks. OpenGL is fine. I asked tech support about this and they say it is a limitation of the software. Jim, how do you get acceptable results? this is particularly a problem with the parking space tool which only produces 2D results (the "show 3D stripe option creates super blurry lines).

This is the tech support response:

Renderworks is optimized for 3D geometry. The ability to see any 2D planar objects in a Renderworks render is actually a fairly recent addition. In most cases, 2D planar objects should not be used if you intend to render in a Renderworks mode. When creating 3D models, it is best to use only 3D objects. In this example, simply converting the line to 3D polygon with drastically decrease the render time and allow the object to render correctly.

Our engineering team is aware of the current limitations of planar objects in Renderworks modes and is working on adding better support in the future.

Thank you.

Yeah some of the older articles are holdovers from before we put things on Youtube. Which is a much better solution than hosting the videos directly.

Most of these articles I have gone over and corrected over time, but any time you come across one, let me know and I can correct it right away.

If you're in a hurry to get to a video that happens to be that way, normally you can search our YT channel for the title of that article and you'll find it right away.
