create contours tool

It would be great if the create contour tool has the same functions as move by point tool like:

- distribute mode. Select the length of object and say how much contours are needed

- move mode. create contours at a specified distance

That could be useful.

Is this what is described by BuzzLightyear?:

Drag a line between two points and the contours distribute between the end points, count/spacing determined by settings in the pref dialog. A pref for contour direction would be good - either parallel to the line or perpendicular to the line while staying normal to the screen plane or to the ground plane or some user defined plane.

Or some kind of a clip cube function. Draw a box around the space to be contoured. Orientation of the box in 3 space determines direction of the contours. Box is aware enough to resize itself during 3space rotation to touch the extents of the selected objects to be contoured. Prefs for contour count or separation distance.
