Benson Shaw
Sometimes I draw objects in a design layer and paste them into annotation of a Sheet Layer Viewport. This works OK until these objects are mirrored. Achtung! Assign these objects to sheet layer before cut/pasting them into the VP. The setup: New drawing, create on design layer a circle and make SLVP containing the circle assigned to a new sheet layer. Back on the DL, create a triangle or other planar object assigned to Layer Plane in OIP. Cut it to clipboard (it's no longer visible on the DL). On SL, Enter the VP annotations, Paste the triangle close to the circle so it shows easily in the VP (now you have a layer plane object in a screen plane only context). MIrror the triangle and exit the VP. Experiment moving the VP to several new positions - up, down sideways. The mirrored triangle shifts position relative to other objects in the VP. Direction and extent of move affects new position of the mirrored triangle. -B Edited August 2, 2014 by Benson Shaw Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JuanCarlos Posted August 20, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 20, 2014 I would suggest to draw in screen plane mode in the DL the objects that you intent to cut and paste in to a SLVP annotations for this workflow to work Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Absolutely, JuanCarlos Except who knows what will be cut to VP later? LImiting the DL to screen plane is not a usual work flow. Toggling layer/screen is more common workflow. My post is more an explanation for those who experience this unexpected behavior. -B Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Benson, That is very odd behavior. The mirrored object is shifting relative to the mirroring center point. How did you come upon this? Is this type of thing something you do often in your workflow? Quote Link to comment
