Tobias Kern
hi vw-board, i'm a non native engl. speaker, i try to explain my wish as good as i can wish 1 the normal 2D curve tools produce always curves with controlpoints direct on the curve. for better organic drawings, rounder shapes lesser producing little edges or small knees its necessary that the controlpoints are not on the curve itself. i think we need a new 2d drawing method for this solution. a 2d b-spline. see attached picture wish 2 i often use sketchup and i like the feature "always visible control points" in vw the control points are only visible in the edit-mode. my 2nd wish is a tool to make the controlpoints alsways visible, best placed in this bar: greetings Quote Link to comment

0 Kevin McAllister
wish 1 the normal 2D curve tools produce always curves with controlpoints direct on the curve. You can switch it to drawn an Illustrator style Bezier curve in the mode bar. for better organic drawings, rounder shapes lesser producing little edges or small knees its necessary that the controlpoints are not on the curve itself. i think we need a new 2d drawing method for this solution. a 2d b-spline. I think the NURBS curve tool draws the type of curve you want even though its points are still on the curve (it doesn't show the handles when editing but they are there, just export to something like Rhino to see them). My understanding is that NURBS curves are inherently B-spline type curves. It would be great to have access to this in 2d as well (though 2d and 3d are converging in VW). The best organic curve module I've seen is actually this - http://www.levien.com/spiro/ The spiro curve has only been incorporated into the freeware program Inkscape so far but its a step beyond the Bezier curve. wish 2 i often use sketchup and i like the feature "always visible control points" in vw the control points are only visible in the edit-mode. my 2nd wish is a tool to make the controlpoints alsways visible, best placed in this bar: An option like this would be great. I am constantly using the POn and POff functions in Rhino. Kevin Quote Link to comment
