Camera field of view limit?

Recommended Posts

Hello-

I'm trying to mock-up real-world camera shots for a project. I can't seem to create a Renderworks Camera with a Field of View value that is less than 12.3 (degrees) no matter what I do. Is there a trick here?

(VW2014 SP3 Spotlight+Renderworks, OS X 10.9.3, retina MacBook Pro 10.1)

Looks like that is the minimum, I'll submit a case to see why/if that was intended.

Thanks. A long lens (70X or 86X) video camera lens gets much narrower that that, especially when framing up a single presenter shot on a stage.

Gents -

When working out a simple script to assign FOV values based on lens spec (probably, for the same reason Brendan is asking) I believe I was told that that is a limitation of Renderworks.

I'm sorry; I can't seem to find the message thread.

But...I have attached the script I use. Just select a Renderworks Camera object and run the script. You'll be asked for the lens spec. in mm. The Focal Length and Field of View will then get filled in.
