Show / Hide

Kevin McAllister

Question

I would like to see VW add an option to hide the selected objects (basically a visibility toggle that's not associated with a layer or class) or show all (to turn all the objects back on). Its such a simple idea I'm surprised it doesn't exist in VW.

I've been experimenting with Rhino, which has these commands, and find it hard to work without it when returning to VW. Its a logical replacement for the group/edit group/ungroup workflow I've been using for years.

I'll add this to a similar request I submitted earlier. 3DS Max has something similar called "Isolate" which works separate from their system of organization, to temporarily show only the objects selected when that mode was enabled without actually changing visibility settings within the file.

This used to exists. It was a series of commands called Hide and Show.

No longer in the base program, but still accessible from Vectorscript.

I use the following scripts occasionally. Just go to the Vectorscript Editor, create a new script and paste the text after the colon on each line into a separate script. The part before the colon is the name I usually give the script. The first one is the most important. Can you guess why?

UnHide All : Show(All);

Hide Selected : Hide(SEL=TRUE);

Hide Unselected : Hide (SEL=FALSE);

Hihi.

It can be a bit complicated, like in Modo,

where you can hide on Item and Component Level.

Where it needs to to have Items selected to be able

to SHIFT+H = unhide (really) all.

While in Bricscad I miss that the current Visibility Setup

is not kept after closing and reopening that file.
