BG
We have a 3D polygon that we want to extrude vertically, but it only seems to extrude perpendicular to the slope of the polygon. Is there a way to extrude it vertically? And is there a way to combine 3D polygons in to a solid object? See attached file. Thanks Quote Link to comment
ray isaacs
hi, bg. just looked at your file and was able to extrude each of the triangular polygons vertically with the push/pull tool. is that what you want? on the other hand, combining 3d polys into a solid is something that i have often wanted to do. i hope someone chimes in with a way to do that. cheers, ray Quote Link to comment
BG
Hi Ray I tried the push pull, but it only seems to extrude perpendicular to the surface, not vertically. Unless I'm missing something? Cheers Brett Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Extrude always works at right angles to the 2D surface. If you want to extrude at a different angle then: - convert the 3D Polygon to a nurbs - place a copy where you want it to be and end - loft between the two using the first mode of the Loft tool Quote Link to comment
ray isaacs
yes, in your model i assumed that perpdendicular to the triangular surface was vertical. Quote Link to comment
BG
Thanks Mike, that works a treat. Brett Quote Link to comment
