J. Miller
I have a set of symbols that use a record. Is there a way to interactively link this list worksheet of symbols to a file that can be edited in Excel and the updated in Vectorworks. I am not familiar with ODBC nor do I own any database management software. i am hoping to keep this simple. Any help or pointers would be appreciated. Jeff Quote Link to comment
Miguel Barrera
This might be possible if your system has an Excel driver. You will need to become familiar with ODBC and learn how to link it to an excel file. Once it is setup correctly, which includes matching the file with a driver, the file can be accessed by VW or any other program with database functionality. ODBC is just like a translator that makes data accessible through a commom language called SQL. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Alexandra Beshevlieva Posted February 18, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 18, 2014 As Miguel wrote you, you need to be familiar with ODBC. Here is a simple tutorial how to connect Vectorworks with excel file: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/getattachment.php?data=MTIxOHxPREJDIENvbm5lY3Rpdml0eSBpbiBWZWN0b3J3b3Jrcy5wZGY%3D Good luck!
