stmlandplan
Does anyone knows of a plug-in or stand alone software that provides Swept Path Analysis for truck movements...other than AutoTurn or Bricscad? Edited January 25, 2014 by stmlandplan Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
The only other alternative was AutoTrack, but it has been bought by Autodesk and it is now no longer sold. That means the Bricscad option is also dead. The lack of alternatives means there is an opportunity for someone to develop an alternative. Hopefully someone will do it and soon with a cross platform solution. Quote Link to comment
unearthed
There's another Bricscad option - Bricsturn - freeware (an out of process tool - you just use Bricscad to view and export your dxf) - http://www.glamsen.se/BricsTurn.htm I'm not a programmer but a swept-path program might be quite a chunky plugin - if anyone were to write one. It's pretty good and you can add more vehicles: (I put my truck in for instance - altho' you can't new new icons! - nothing fashionable about the default luton van). Bricsturn may require an MS addon to run refer http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/confirmation.aspx?id=22276. Quote Link to comment
stmlandplan
Thanks for the replies above.....I'll pledge the first $250.00 USD for someone willing to develop/convert/adapt some basic 2D Swept Path Analysis software to integrate with VectorWorks. It would need to provide the basic functionality of AutoTurn Standard or Bricsturn Edited January 26, 2014 by stmlandplan Quote Link to comment
stmlandplan
I can't seem to get BricsTurn to run without BricsCad. Are you saying it should be able to run stand alone? Quote Link to comment
unearthed
No, 'out of process' (apologies - jargon) is a term to describe various software that uses another program to run itself, but where the main program doesn't actually need to be running. So you do need Bricscad to run Bricsturn, but Bricsturn run alone outside Bricscad. Quote Link to comment
