domer1322
I tried to make a new texture for a brick pattern that is unusual. I made a grid of lines to represent the mortar joints, then used that grid line image as the "bump" image, with regular color. When the texture is applied, my CMU blocks that were supposed to be 16" wide are now about 14" wide and about 12" tall instead of 8" tall. Obviously the texture 'bump' image mapping is distorting the proportions. I tried to reset the image size, and I can get the horizontal distance correct, but then the vertical distance between lines is wrong. Is this a bug or could the operator be doing something wrong ? domer1322
Here are the files. Thanks for your help. The big squares in the grid are supposed to be 16" x 16". Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 12, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 12, 2013 I see what you mean, it seems to be distorting the bump image. Going to have someone take a closer look. Quote Link to comment
domer1322
You've already done me a favor by showing it isn't just my lack of understanding. Thanks for the help. (PS: this is a long range project ... I'm keeping a 3D model of my church for use in additions and renovations. This is the existing wall condition. No rush to make it right. ) Quote Link to comment
John Meunier
In order for a bump not to be distorted it needs to be symmetrical, why I do not know. Attached is an updated VW's file, and description on how to find the lowest common multiple with textures that are not at first symmetrical. domer1322
John ... I had given up on this, but I am happy that someone like you took the time to show me there is a fix. Thank you so much .... ... although I still think Nemetsheck should spend some time fixing this "symetrical bump" issue. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 9, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 9, 2014 Agreed, I don't see why this should be necessary. Submitted as an issue awhile ago along with another texturing issue, i'll keep an eye on it. Quote Link to comment
John Meunier
I agree as well, looking forward to having the texture bump revised. Quote Link to comment
