Ethan R.
Hello all ... Doing a simple layout and have a single symbol that would like to be represented in 5 colors. Similar to the "Link Text to Record" I would like to link the color of a part of the symbol. I cannot just do this via classes as the parts inside the symbol do not change class when the symbol does. thank you Quote Link to comment

Ethan R.
Not working at all Let me be a bit more specific ... I have a symbol tables & chairs. In different parts of the plan, there are different color tables cloths (5 total). I would love to be able to change the tablecloth color (and leave the chairs alone) by a simple attribute change. right now I have 5 separate symbols - 1 for each color group. Blah. thanks! Hippocode
There is no way to attach the color of a symbol from "a" record (unless you code a plug-in). You could use one symbol and set the fill of it not to "class". If that symbol contains more then one class you're screwed probably. Quote Link to comment
Ethan R.
Yeah - I think there may be some way to do a workaround with the "Lighting Colors" thing - but have not been able to get that to work even for lights! lol thanks Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted December 9, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 9, 2013 Separate symbols is probably the easiest way. If you really want to do it with just one symbol then you could stack multiple viewports and use class attribute overrides to change the color of the classes inside of the symbol.
