Laurali
I finally want to start using capability of Vectorworks and stop using it like I'm hand drafting...I'm drawing a section and want to show 2x6 tongue in groove above rafters. How would I create a hatch for the 2x6's. Would it be a hatch?... Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Try the repetitive unit in the Detailing tool set. It has a 2x6 t&g symbol. Draw the path to open the dialogs for choosing a symbol to repeat. -B Quote Link to comment
Laurali
Thank you. I guess I better look a little more closely at existing VW tools... Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
You can also make your own 2d graphic or 3d model of a T&G 2x6 and apply it with Edit>Duplicate Along Path. Create the repeating object as a symbol in either case. -B Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted November 11, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 11, 2013 You also may want to take a look at Tile Fills, I have seen many use tiles for similar goals. But tiles would only be useful to get the appearance you're looking for, not solid geometry. http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/838/Tile+Fills However as stated in posts above, I would also recommend the Repetitive Unit tool and Duplicate Array/Along Path commands as the best choices.
