Thom
Is anyone running VW on this OS? What are your results and what did you need to do to get it running? thks in advance Edited October 1, 2013 by Thom Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted October 1, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 1, 2013 I had tried repeatedly and never got it to work. The furthest I was able to go was using Wine but I was not able to get past the reliance on QuickTime. It is possible that once that dependency is removed that Vectorworks could be rigged to run on a Linux distro, but thats completely a personal guess on my part. (However I will totally be trying it.) Thom
Have you tried using the Wine 'CrossOver' software? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted October 3, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 3, 2013 Not that one in particular, I may give it a try. The main problem was getting Vectorworks to "see" the QuickTime installation, even if i had them both installed in the same environment. Quote Link to comment
Keith W
jimW, I might not be the only one that looks forward to your report-backs on how this goes. I'll be particularly interested if you succeed Keith Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted October 21, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 21, 2013 No luck at all with the CrossOver test, simply wont let Vectorworks installer complete. Tried installing all of the prerequisites as well, QuickTime, .NET frameworks, etc, but no joy. There is a project called Darling, aimed at running OS X applications on Linux that I may eventually be able to try the OS X version of Vectorworks with, but its too early in it's development to get it working at the moment, however others with more experience are welcome to try: http://darling.dolezel.info/en/Darling Quote Link to comment

niagara designer
hi - is there any update on Linux/Ubuntu compatibility? I'm being strongly encouraged to switch, but have only found this thread that addresses this question. Also, nothing in the general VW software req's. thanks 1 Quote Link to comment
davidmauroweb
Hello, any news on the subject? It's a shame, with the growth, efficiency, and potential of linux that it isn't developed for that operating system. We only depend on the monopolies, discarding many users or forcing them to use windows. 2 Quote Link to comment
MrPilot
Hello, I'm bumping the subject as well. This is hugely important, especially when thinking about AI and Web integrations. You can't properly run that on Windows or even Mac servers! Quote Link to comment
