place symbol according to attribute

Recommended Posts

I have over a 1000, points (importing shp file). All these points ave the attributes attached to them, i can see the information in the "Object info - data"

Each point is a Loci, i want to create basic symbols, different colour circles, and have them display the correct symbol, based on the data in one of the fields....

Any ideas out there?

Im thinking Modify > Convert > Replace with Symbol would work for the step of swapping the loci with the colored circle symbol with no problem.

The above of course requires a specific selection, perhaps Select Similar tool, with its options set so that Database Records acts as the filter?

If you can post a sample VWX of some of the imported objects or the whole file I can give it a shot.

Thanks, that seems to work but its a manual process. Select points based on field data then do a replace...

Is there a way to have VW place symbols based on field data dynamically?

To verify...

Some SHP files seem to work perfectly, and place correctly in VW.

But others, i can never get to project properly, although they will place in other applications fine.
