Kevin McAllister
I've started working on my first full project in VW2014. The project was started in VW2013 but the file needed rebuilding anyway because of an origin issue. So I started with a new file and cut and paste my elements in layer by layer. Things seem to come over fine. Each layer is named after an exhibit area. When I finished moving everything over I noticed one was missing. When I tried to create it again I got an error saying that a "sheet" layer already existed (I was trying to create a design layer). If you click on a sheet layer viewport to turn layers on and off there is an invisible layer in the list. This is something I've never seen before. Has anyone else? Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 24, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 24, 2013 I have seen this in some cases, but usually only from opening pre- Vectorworks 2008 files, not from rebuilt files as you are working with. What happens if you attempt to delete this invisible layer in a copy of your file? Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Jim, I'm not sure how I would delete it. It only shows up in the Layers dialog associated with a Sheet Layer Viewport. It doesn't appear in the Navigation Palette or the Organization dialog. Kevin Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 24, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 24, 2013 Does it appear in the layer lists for all viewports, or only some? If you create a new viewport from scratch, does it show in that viewports layer list as well? Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
It appeared on the list for all sheet layer viewports. And in new sheet layer viewports. It didn't appear in design layer viewports. I think I've solved it for now. It reappeared after I deleted all of the sheet layer viewports. It makes me concerned though. I hardly ever create standard viewports from scratch. In this case one viewport was a carry over from a VW2013 template. The second was created by duplicating the first sheet. I normally either duplicate sheets or option drag existing viewports to create new ones. Then I don't have to manually add drawing labels etc.. I've never had a problem before.
