Modify Layers and Classes Command

I'm using v10 and the concept of merging classes and layers is a great one. Too bad nothing happens after you click OK.....

Any ideas?

Merging classes and layers isn't new to VW 10. It was available in VWA 9 and possible VW 8 if I remember correctly.

Merging classes and layers merges the selected class and or layer to the layer or class selected. The original layers the objects resided in still exist. You need to remove those classes and layers. The objects on those classes and layers should now be members of the selected layer or class you asked it to merge them to.

It's a bug.

Work Around:

Create a temp class "Foo"

Create an object in the "Foo" class

Run "Modify Layers and Classes"

Follow the normal procedures, but leave the "Foo" class in the existing

column.

When you "Go To Layers" you will be warned that you are deleting 1 object.

Click OK.

You will be warned again when you click the "OK" button on the main dialog.

When you are done manually delete the "Foo" class if you have not selected

to delete empty classes automatically.
