James Russell
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has had experience importing meshes/solids from .obj, .ply, .vrml or .stl files. I've been given some 3D scans in these formats and am keen to bring them into VW but don't know a midstep program/process. Any help much appreciated! Cheers, J Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
Obj's can easily be converted to .dae (collada) which is a good format to import into VW or you can corvert pretty much to any other by simply using Blender. Sketchup pro can also do some conversions for you. HTH Quote Link to comment
James Russell
Patrick, I download Blender last night and converted my objects to 3ds files to no avail (a 3DSMax extension if I remember correctly), I'll have to give .dae a go tonight. Thanks, I'll keep you updated! Cheers, J Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
You can also try DWG or dxf import. Also there is also a pretty good converter here http://www.micromouse.ca/index.html it's called Accutrans, if you like the results with the trial it's only 20$ to purchase, don't under estimate it's power due to it's price.
